BreastAware application is intended to inform and sensitize women on breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common malignant neoplasm of women in the Western world. The idea that prevention is the best treatment is absolutely truth in case of breast cancer. Early detection of breast cancer significantly improves survival, but also the quality of life.
Breast cancer has very good chance of cure if it is diagnosed at an early stage. Early diagnosis is achieved through self-examination, mammography and clinical examination.
The application contains concise but important information that aims to emphasize the importance of early diagnosis, to indicate the risk factors for disease development, to recommend preventive measures and highlight the importance of regular self-examination and mammography, combined with regular visits to a clinician.
The application teaches women the proper technique of breast self-examination with simple understandable steps and related images, highlighting the signs of the disease that should draw their attention. It also contains a short educational video to illustrate the technique of self-examination and to give women a clear idea of how quickly and easily this can be performed.
Through BreastAware app, women have the ability to set reminders for both the recommended monthly self-examination of their breasts and for their mammogram. So periodically a woman receives on her cell phone notifications, in order to include into her everyday life the screening for breast cancer, which can save her life.
